Well my dearest, I still am that way about you, and always will be to the end of time.  Please give my thanks. I overheard that they didn’t know where the Special Inspections office was in San Francisco.

We reached the hotel about 6:30 P.M.  Went to eat and then dropped in at the cathedral and got to confession. While there, and old Irish priest came out and said the Rosary old fashioned style. It took him almost forty minutes to say the Rosary but it was very good for us and I felt wonderful. So after church, I came home to the hotel, took a shower, listened to radio and off to slumber. Sweetheart, don’t be surprised if I don’t mention your letter, because, as I told you, Saturday we had to leave early, so I missed the mail.

California is really and truly beautiful.  The flowers are beautiful  Each home is kept so nice.  Even in the cities,  you seem to always be in one huge garden. Even the smallest little restaurant is bedecked every day with fresh cut flowers. You’ll love it, sweetheart, flowers of all descriptions to meet your eye everywhere you go. Got two letters this morning, boy oh boy what 90 day business is what they out here thought is would take but the boys from back east will cut 30 days off that at least. They’re all working Saturdays, Sundays, nights, every available minute to get back to their loved ones.

Hello my sugar plum;  Sunday afternoon and we  just returned from a walk. It is four o’clock here but at home well it’s just about seven and mommy is just putting angel child to bed. Imagination is the most wonderful gift God has bestowed upon us, because it can make me completely unaware of the desk I write upon, the room that I live in, Anton resting on the bed, I am oblivious of everything about me, and my mind dwells right the moment in the kitchen with you and me. I can even hear your sweet voice admonishing Mary Ann, that daddy will be home pretty soon, and when he does,  a big smile play upon your face- and her little face with a look of expectancy- hangs  one every word you say- well he’ll give us millions of hugs and kisses- both of you join in happy smiles and more or less commune with one another each holding in it’s heart just what you will do to Daddy when he gets home. Little Jimmy joins in the laughter, trying to say in his inarticulate way, that he to is waiting for Daddy. It is the most delightful scene to behold and make life really worth living. It is the driving force and impetus  that makes a man’s life worth while. My family and me. Happy am I to be the proud possessor of such invaluable jewels, that I am the guardian and custodian of these God given instruments of his creation.  May God grant that I am always worthy of such an important stewardship. It is the most important task, that I can or ever will perform in this mortal life of ours, to guard, protect and love you all for all eternity. Heavy is it’s responsibility, but with you darling, our journey will be the most pleasant. I could go anywhere and do anything, knowing that you a beside me. You are my inspiration. You are the one thing in the life that mothers. It is through you and God’s blessing that we have children, which portray to the world our beautiful love for one another.

How proud I am to look at our children, God-given, and say to the world, yes they are ours. They are God’s expression of our love for one another. World behold them, for in them you see what our love has meant to each other. Darling, love of mine, the distance separates us I am yours in heart. Love knows no barriers. It conquers all obstacles placed in the path. The soul cannot be destroyed, it cannot be separated by mortal man and his instrumentalities. The mind, thanks be to God way wonders where it pleases, and it is my pleasure to wander back to you and be by your side; to see your sweet smiling face, to be held in your loving arms, to look down upon a lovely round countenance that like a fountain, just bubbles over with joy that abounds within. Eternally could I sep from your lips the joy that trickles forth, temptingly inviting me to quaff the joy of life and to be forever eternally happy.

When we behold each other, we knew we were meant for each other. It was something neither one of us could deny. We were cognizant of the fact that our lives must run along together, like two streams we joined together to form a river that seeks the sea of eternity. We were mentally attracted to one another darling, and our physical union was the sealing of our desire to be one physically as well as mentally. We are now, my dearest love- one- by the hovel of God. Sweetheart I love you so much, oh so much. I will thank God every day of my life for His giving you to me.

Please darling don’t work too hard. Take it easy. You know you never know when to quit.  You just work and work and work until you are exhausted. Don’t tell me any different, I know. You’ve dragged yourself out of bed, when you’ve been hardly able to stand up, just so you wouldn’t wake me up.

Hello, my guardian angel, church this morning, and Holy Communion and a plenary indulgence for your dearest. That trip, I planned to the Red Wood Highway is off. No car and you can of course take any sight seeing bus, but I’m going to take a walk down to Telegraph Hill, a nice walk and interesting.

Went down to Santa Cruz after Revere Nantasket of California. Sent some cards and bought some souvenirs. On the way down stopped at Santa Clara University (Jeb) (Jesuit)e. Erected on the site of the old Santa Clara mission and was escorted around by a young scholastic. The old mission grounds, with the cloistered walks and grape arbors old adobe walls still standing. Absolutely beautiful. A folder of the mission is enclosed.
