Birthday Parody
At a family reunion in July 2008, it was my 60th birthday. My siblings, Marianne, Jim, and Ed made up a song that gives some insight into my personality and little traits. I always hated the Sound of Music musical when I was a kid, so my siblings set the parody music to the cursed song! All sang this song and then I blew out the candles:
Sound of Music Parody for Matt
The hills are alive with the sound of music
Matt's mind is alive with details
with songs they haves sounds for a thousand years
Of notes, books and bits we have soon forgot
The hills fill my heart with the sound of music
But Matt stores them all oh so neatly
My heart wants to sing every song it hears
To retrieve when our needs become hot
My hearts wants to beat like wings of the birds
He nows what we like be it jazz, blues or pop
That rise form the lakes and trees
Or sweet and low with our teas.
My heart wants to sigh like a chime that flies
His mind wants to know, just what is your goal?
From a church on a breeze
He begs, oh tell me please
To laugh like a brook when it trips and falls
Yet, no pushover he'll react with much glee when
Over stones on its way
Good cards come his way
To sing through the night like a lark who
He'll laugh, preen and strut like an ass who
Is learning to pray
Is learning to bray
I go to the hills where my heart is lonely
But lest we omit what your heart has shown us
I know I will hear what I've heard before
We hope you will hear what we've said before
My heart will be blessed with the sound of music
We truly feel blest, thanks for all you have given
And I'll sing once more
But we still want more!
